The Kapolei "Hurricane" Marching Band

The Kapolei “Hurricane” Marching Band was founded in 2002, as an exhibition band. In the year of 2003-2004, the Kapolei “Hurricanes” competed in their first festival. Soon the “Hurricanes” began to get recognition and was known as the “Pride of the West Side” in the year 2005 Each year the Band strives to maintain that title by demonstrating dedication, integrity, pride, being responsible, respectful, and humble.

The Kapolei High School “Hurricane” Marching Band and Color Guard is taking the field again and marching for their eleventh year, reaching for new heights and challenges. The marching band participates in festivals and competitions each year, raising the awareness of their music program as well as building a sense of pride in their students by participating in tournaments like the Menehune Classic, the OIA Marching Festival, The Kamehameha Tournament of Bands, the Trojan Bandfest and now, showcasing themselves in their very own festival.

Both the band leaders and students of the Kapolei High School “Hurricane” Marching Band and Color Guard strive to build rapport with their surrounding communities by delivering musical shows that are equally enjoyable and appealing for the audience and the student-performers alike. Moreover, the marching band’s commitment to excellence is evident in their countless hours of practice, the building of huge and dramatic props, and most importantly, the camaraderie and unity that is fostered among its students.
